How do healthcare experiences affect cardiovascular health?

Researchers at the Outside In Lab, Dalhousie University, are looking for volunteers to participate in a study examining how weight-related experiences in healthcare may influence blood flow and cardiovascular health.​​

Participants will receive up to $50 CAD for completing the study.

About the study 

This research aims to better understand how experiences of weight-related stigma in healthcare settings may affect cardiovascular health. Your participation will help advance research and improve healthcare for future patients.

Who Can Participate?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 18–40 years old

  • Are generally healthy

  • Have experienced weight-related discrimination in a healthcare setting (including negative or dismissive comments, denial of proper medical care, etc)

What Does Participation Involve?

Participation includes:

  • One screening visit (approximately 35 minutes) to determine eligibility.

  • Two study visits (approximately 1.5 hours each) involving questionnaires and non-invasive cardiovascular assessments.

Participants who complete the study will receive a gift card up to $50 CAD ( 25 CAD per study visit) as compensation for their time.
